Sine Rule

Back This page calculates using the Sine Rule.

Definition

Enter three values from a, A, b or B, and we can calculate the others (leave the values blank for the values you do not have):

a=, Angle(A)=°

b=, Angle(B)=°

c=, Angle(C)=°

Examples

  • a=20, A=20°, b=45, B=0° (B=43.16°) Try
  • a=0, A=20°, b=45, B=30° (a=30.78) Try
  • a=0, A=60°, b=30, B=60° (a=30) Try
  • a=40, A=60°, b=0, B=60° (b=40) Try
  • a=20, A=20°, b=40, B=0° (B=43.16°) Try
  • a=60, A=40°, b=20, B=0° (B=12.37°) Try

Theory

\(\frac{a}{sin(A)}=\frac{b}{sin(B)}=\frac{c}{sin(C)}\)

\(A+B+C=180\)

Result

\(B = \sin^{-1}{(\frac{b}{a}sin{A}})\)

\(B = 45.00°\)

\(C = 180-45.00-45.00=90.00\)

\(c = b\sin{C}/\sin{B}\)
